Weapons Charges

New York City gun or pistol crime consequences are very serious. If you were found in possession of a loaded, unlicensed firearm either on the street or in your home, you will likely face a mandatory minimum of two or more years in state prison. Felony criminal possession of a weapon is a violent felony offense that the police consider a priority.

Other weapons, however, are different. While there are some items that are automatically considered a weapon, there are others that may be labeled as such depending on how they are used.  Misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon carries a penalty of up to one year in jail.

In any case, it is essential to your liberty, financial health and future that you obtain an experienced, results-driven attorney who will aggressively fight for the best outcome possible. I am attorney Scott G. Cerbin, and I have been representing individuals throughout New York City for more than a decade as they face the devastating consequences associated with weapons charges and gun crimes.

As a diligent trial attorney, I am committed to giving my clients the care and attention they deserve as we navigate the complexities of their cases. Prosecuting attorneys are aware of my stance on trial and they often act accordingly when they see that I am their opponent.

Weapons and gun crimes charges are often found in conjunction with assault charges, murder and violent crimes charges, and robbery and burglary charges. I will carefully work to determine if your arresting officer had probable cause to search and charge you with your crime.

My commitment to my clients comes from personal experience. I was once arrested and charged with a crime. I was represented by two very different attorneys. The first lacked dedication to my case and the second was wholly committed to helping me obtain an outcome that supported my best interests. My second lawyer inspired me to become the legal professional I am today: loyal to my clients and invested in their futures.
